16 Year Bait and Switch

Did you know that thousands of Maryland State employees are going to lose their prescription plan they were required to work 16 years to earn?

I am a hogan supporter and I ask – “Hogan, can you resolve this injustice?”

Maryland State employees were made a promise that after 16 years of serving the public they would be provided with a good prescription plan. For those employees who made that commitment – that sacrifice of their lifetime – it has been decided their 16 year investment will be stripped from them by the state of Maryland.

They’ve been “given” a special grace period of 1 year, while the state has played “bait & switch” with a minimum of 16 years of their lives.

People rely on these medical prescriptions which they spent at least 16 years earning!

The State Employee Union for Maryland workers has not stood up for their employees with any resolve. They got a 2% raise. That’s peanuts when your medication is $1,400 a month. Years ago they actually went from a 35 hour work-week to a 40 hour work week, a 13% pay decrease for salaried workers! A union official was caught personally squandering funds. The union barely has any teeth – even if it were filled with people able to do the job.

They’re not allowed to strike. Maybe they should all just call out sick (and tired) of the lies. Maybe all of the betrayal by their employer has caused depression? Maybe there are a whole host of reasons they should call out. Without strike capability, they have very little bargaining power and it’s up to the public – it’s up to us to ensure our public servants are treated well after dedicating 16 years of their lives to our society.

The prohibitive cost of some of these medications is effectively a death sentence for some individuals – a death sentence which Maryland has supposedly abolished.

Please share this message to bring this injustice to the light of the public – into the minds of the republic.

It’s been said the “doughnut hole” of funding has been partially closed, but that’s not enough after 16 years of earning that doughnut. Maybe legislators should have the strings cut from their golden parachutes.

After working for the state 34 years, Jeff Israel said

“It’s a crime. It’s unjust. It’s not fair.”

• Is it a crime? It would take an attorney with some time on his hands to be certain:

Title 14 – Miscellaneous Consumer Protection Provisions, Subtitle 29 – False Advertising and Related Crimes. § 14-2903. Bait and switch

https://law.justia.com/codes/maryland/2014/commercial-law/title-14/subtitle-29/section-14-2903

• Thousands of Maryland State Retiree’s find out they have 6 months left of coverage:
https://www.wmar2news.com/news/health/maryland-state-retirees-losing-prescription-coverage-in-2019

State workers are often paid less than county workers, this health plan was one the incentives to get people to stay. The bait has been switched.

“On Friday, Governor Hogan announced that the state will offer a one-year transition program that will reimburse all out-of-pocket expenses over $1,500 for the retirees.”

We went to providing a lifetime prescription plan to a 1 year collapsing plan. I know Hogan didn’t initiate this, but letting this O’Malley initiative go while watching the rug being pulled out from under those who spent 16 years earning that very rug is complicit. It’s as if Hogan and O’Malley are currently working on this side by side. How can we have a $3 Billion dollars offer to Amazon, but not $50 Million to keep our promise to the lives of our dedicated public servants? Simply put, do we allow them to be “Baited and Switched.”

I know as Councilman, this state matter may not be directly affected by me. I will use my position to lift injustice to the public. My conscious will control my tongue, not any party.

Dear Mr. Redmer,

In reference to your Facebook post July 26, 2018 characterizing constituent services in Baltimore County having “gone the way of the Dodo bird,”- I can’t agree with you enough.

As an East Side resident like you, a constituent reached out to me via Facebook sending the vilest and most vulgar video display of behavior by a Councilman’s Constituent Aide in Baltimore County history.

Like you, the constituent’s hope was after receiving no reply when sending it to the councilman, that I possess the character, courage and leadership needed to bring proper recognition and recourse to the situation.

Two scathing articles in the press later; there was not one mention, nor comment or recognition of the event. There was certainly no termination of the Aide, as Republican Delegate Ric Metzgar suggested publicly.

Therefore, I will be standing up as candidate Rader for that constituent who was victimized first by the Aide’s aggression and then by the silent system failing him.

Like your administration, under a Rader administration, “we will change the culture of county government with a renewed focus on constituent service, and we will ensure that ALL communities receive the same high-quality level of prompt, responsive service, regardless of zip code.”

Respectfully,
David Rader II
Baltimore County Council Candidate 7th District

The People VS. Corporate Welfare

Do billionaires really need poor people’s money to be successful? Or is taking their money just part of the new successful business model?

Billionaires are about to try and convince you they need up to 150 million taxpayer dollars! 1 They don’t want to take the risk – they want the public to take it!

The richest people in this country already own an incredibly disproportionate amount of it and that ownership by the 1% has been growing.2 While worker productivity has been steadily increasing for many years their earnings have either decreased or at best leveled out.3 We’re working harder and getting paid less.

Now, the oligarchy wants we, the people to pay even more for their endeavors!

Are their business models really so weak that they rely on public funding of their operations? Personally, I’m convinced engineering your business model around public funding is the greatest scam of the 21st century so far.

The method of obtaining taxpayer dollars being used by the company is “TIF” – Tax Incremental Financing and was developed in California – It is now outlawed there, because they found it to be abused and it’s abused here too. The incumbent, Crandell has worked to set up this flawed and outlawed TIF for Trade Point Atlantic.

Baltimore County is scraping around for failing and overpopulated schools. If we have 150 million for a private business, but don’t have 150 million for our children, the system is clearly corrupt. 4

Multiple people have expressed a desire to learn of the Primary Candidate to Write-In process. I answer that call with a detailed instruction set.

These instructions are strictly for those who ran in the primary race and want to continue on as a write-In Candidate

You’ve already filed all of your paperwork once since you ran in the primary. You only need to do a few things now as a write-in.

Complete both of these forms (even if you’ve done it before):

  1. Certificate of Candidacy – Write In Candidate General Election:
    https://elections.maryland.gov/pdf/Cert_Cand_WRITEIN.pdf
  2. Candidate Information Sheet
    https://elections.maryland.gov/forms/documents/candidateinfosheet.pdf

File both forms at the Baltimore County Board of Elections

Baltimore County Board of Elections
11112 Gilroy Rd, Hunt Valley, MD 21031

> Must be filed by 5:00pm on the 7th day preceding the start of early voting of the general election.
Better sooner than later – you never know what hiccup might mess things up.

That’s it! Call the local board of elections for any more questions: (410) 887-5700

• You do not have to pay the filing fee a second time!

This list has been compiled, because the information is scattered about on the Baltimore County website.

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE DAVID RADER WILL GO TO 2018 GENERAL ELECTION

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD (June 28, 2018)- In response to the recent June 26, 2018 primary election strong voter turnout success, Republican David Rader filed with Baltimore County Election Board on June 28, 2018 remaining as the republican write-in candidate for the November 6, 2018 general election for Baltimore County’s 7th Councilmanic seat.

Authority of Vote Dave Rader – Dawn Rader, Treasurer

Hello,

My name is Dave Rader. I’m running for Baltimore County Council right here in District 7. I’m also the chairman of the 7th District Civic Council and the chairman of Norwood-Holabird Community Association.

Tonight, I’m here speaking with you as the candidate for Baltimore County Council, but also as a father, husband, and neighbor. I’ve lived in Dundalk my whole life and plan to continue living here to raise my two young children with my lovely wife. As a parent, I’m concerned for the future of our children. They already suffer from seasonal allergies. We have friends and family living locally with asthma, lung cancer and other breathing problems.

We have some of the highest averages for asthma and cancer in our State. Can I please see a show of hands? How many people know someone locally who has asthma? Please keep your hand up. How many people know someone with cancer? How many people know someone with another breathing issue? Thank you.

Our water is also so polluted the Maryland Department of Environment recommends that we do not eat multiple types of local fish.

If anyone thinks we can sit idly by and this problem will get better on its own, they’re simply wrong. Even worse; if anyone thinks we can add to this problem and it just will not matter, they’re fools and they’re putting everyone’s lives at risk.

There must be public accountability for any operation that involves the health and welfare of our communities. I oppose adding any more crushers to this site unless measures are taken to monitor pollutants off-site. I request we put up air pollution monitors at elementary schools and senior housing close to the site and a few miles away for a wide array of data.

Sincerely,
Dave Rader

When I become councilman my first priority will be to deputize a representative from each community as a volunteer staff member of my office. When community issues are brought up, the community representative will have the authority of my office to address that issue at the department it needs to be addressed at. Of course, I will give my full support to any issue to improve the quality of life of a community.

We will have monthly meetings to meet with all of the communities as I’m already doing. We will have discussions about legislation. We will have discussions about the performance of various departments effecting our communities. We will have discussions on each pertinent topic of the times.

All of this information is going to be recorded so we can monitor the progress throughout each of the four years of my administration. From community to community we can track the progress or failures in any one community. We will make a plan to address them. We will work closely with each department to increase our cooperation and effectiveness.

Through this historic level of community involvement, we will ensure the greatest attention to detail, transparency and direct access to government our communities have ever been witness to.

Your participation is necessary to ensure this great democracy. If you want your community to have the greatest ability it has ever had to be involved in the processes affecting it, vote Dave Rader.

Sincerely,
Dave Rader
